If you like this video, give it some love on vimeo! http://vimeo.com/9815812

A project made for UWM: shoot something to do with intervals in the library. I chose the moving stacks in the basement. You press a button and they slowly go along a track to open up.

It was sort of a "What happens after hours" type of thing... kinda. If I had to give a reason for the goings on.

in a long run will those shelves & racks last

with tons of books and keeps on moving like that...

n i think it can be implemented in big libraries n a lot of money to spend...

I believe when the library is open all the shelves are extended; they're only closed when the library shuts down for the night. So they're not constantly opening and closing just to get out a few books.

It all depends on the friction. Trains move hundreds of tonnes efficently due to low friction.

Can you imagine how much energy this thing eats to move so many shallows just to take one book???

    Save energy! Use Internet!
