These statements were apparently made to a select group of media without proper investigation when the FACTS show that there were only Taliban involved on that site: Taliban unit B helping Taliban unit A (stuck tankers). There were no typical signatures of civilians visible that night. This was a decisive victory over the Taliban in that region. Why does the White House harass the ones who won it? Who speaks about the legitimate drivers of the trucks who were brutally murdered by these Taliban?

Wait a minute...General McCrystal said that they could not tell if they were civilians or not because of "...confusion and the dark..."!!!

And yet another ISAF spokesman said that the Germans who called the airstrike POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED them as hostiles!

Which is it?

I don't think they would have had any idea of what was coming, they have been using civilians for cover in the past. I believe that the German army commander who called in the U.S. airstrike was too impatient, and probably didn't know that those people who swarmed the trucks were civilians, just as the bombs were already on their way down. Still this reliance on airpower to solve problems on the ground is getting a little too much!

However,If Afghans  followed the Koran they would know that stealing is forbidden according to scripture.The civilians should not have near the tankers.The Taliban bear some of this responsibility for their deaths.

It is regrettable that civilians were killed in this airstrike. Im pleased to see the commander take responsiblility for it,as he should under his watch.
