Terrible day at the Lake. Chevy Tahoe goes into lake. The audio says the car was left in reverse. That was said on the spot before I knew the details. Tahoe owner said the truck was in park. Video starts with the Tahoe coming out the first time. A nice passerby hooks up a ski rope and a tow strap to pull him out. As soon as it is pulled out the rope breaks and it goes right back in as seen at 1:10 in the video. It made for a crappy day for this fellow and his wife. Thank goodness the family wasn't in the car and nobody was seriously hurt. The guy who owns the Tahoe was treated for hypothermia. The Chevy Tahoe was totalled, as you can guess. Be careful out there.
Update: Please be nice with your comments. It was an unfortunate accident for the family.

Hey guess what, Water almost certainly made itsway in to the brake system since the top of the hood was submerged and the brake fluid lids are not all sealed. Its likely water got in there rendering them a little less than optimal. Secondly, if he hit the partking brake, it still is unlikely that 2 wheels locked could have stopped the weight of the truck, with a trailer on an incline with wet surface... think before you post.

u need to drive a car through a river or go offroading mate... yes what u said is right, but for the first innitial press of the brake it would jam thoes wheels perfect. if u pumped it then ye u might get a water bubble in the lines. so get it right before u post ;)

Oh and the parking brake would lock up the rears & that would b more than enough to stop the Tahoe and trailer since essentially putting the vehicle in Park does the same thing. I've yet to see a vehicle roll away due to weight while still in park have you?

1, water did not get past the master cylinder & replace or absorb all of the brake fluid w/ water & 2, even if it magicly did the laws of physics still apply. You cant compress a liquid. Therefore even if the whole brake system was completely filled with water and im talking about the calipers, lines, ABS controller, master cylinder & reservoir the brakes would still work as if it was brake fluid... Know b4 u post.
