Here is the song (less famous than the music), from the famous TV series "Bewitched" with the beautiful Elizabeth Montgomery, crooned here by Steve Lawrence.
Elizabeth Victoria Montgomery (1933 -- 1995) was an American film and television actress best remembered for her leading role as the witch Samantha Stephens in the sitcom "Bewitched". Born in Los Angeles, California, she was the daughter of well-known actor Robert Montgomery and his wife, Broadway actress Elizabeth Bryan Allen. Montgomery never achieved the success on the big screen her talent, beauty, and style seemed to predict for it. She starred with Henry Silva and Sammy Davis, Jr. in the 1963 gangster film "Johnny Cool" and, the same year, with Dean Martin and Carol Burnett in the comedy "Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed?", directed by Daniel Mann. Alfred Hitchcock had her in mind to play the sister-in-law of Sean Connery, who sees herself as a rival to the troubled heroine in the movie "Marnie", but Montgomery was unavailable due to her commitment to a television show that would eclipse all her other work. She played Samantha Stephens in the ABC situation comedy "Bewitched". This show, the highest rated series ever for the network, enjoyed an eight-year run from 1964 to 1972 and remains popular through syndication and DVD releases. Montgomery received five Emmy Award and four Golden Globe nominations for her role. At its creative peak, "Bewitched" was considered one of the most sophisticated sitcoms on the air and cleverly explored contemporary themes and social issues within a fantasy context. Unfortunately the show's great success precluded the beautiful, versatile and highly intelligent Montgomery from getting the sorts of film opportunities she deserved, although she continued playing dramatic roles that took her as far away from the good-natured Samantha typecasting as possible. She received Emmy Award nominations for playing a rape victim in "A Case of Rape" (1974), for her portrayal of the notorious Lizzie Borden in "The Legend of Lizzie Borden" (1975), and for her role as a strong woman facing hardship in 1820's Ohio in the mini-series "The Awakening Land" (1978). In 1977 she turned heads when she played a police detective having an interracial affair with her partner in "A Killing Affair". She also made a chilling villain in the 1985 picture "Amos", playing a nurse in a state home who terrorized residents Kirk Douglas and Dorothy McGuire. Her final acting role was in an episode of "Batman: The Animated Series" entitled "Showdown", in which she played a barmaid. She was the first series actress in television to broaden her career with television movies. Her final television movies were the highly-rated Edna Buchanan detective series. In June 2005, a statue of Montgomery as Samantha Stephens was erected in Salem, Massachusetts. Montgomery is expected to finally receive her star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony to be held before 2009.
Let yourself bewitch by Elizabeth's beauty and charm!

  • Thanks for posting this. I always wondered if there were lyrics to the song or a proper arrangement - in the closing credits of Bewitched there's always a mention of the "Song By". And now I know. Interesting vid as well, so thank you for doing it!

  • Many thanks!!

  • This is terrific!

Is that Dean Martin at 0:55? I wish this was available on iTunes as a single. Unfortunately, you need to buy the whole album.

  • Yes, it is (lucky) Dean Martin!

  • That sounds like Sinatra!

  • The song is performed by Steve Lawrence, whose voice recalls indeed very much Sinatra's voice.

  • We will never have another Elizabeth Mongomery. She was one of the most beautiful women in TV or movies. In fact I would say she was the tops. She worked very hard on Bewitched. She was in all 254 shows. Most remakes of a movie or TV show never match the first. If you type in Rebecca Asher her daugther you will pull some family pictures of the Asher family. I wish I could have met her. We will see her in heaven and I have a lot to ask her. Liz thanks for the memiores! Thanks for the nice page.

  • Golly!! She was so beautiful!!

  • I remember the Lizzie Borden movie and Liz was a great actress who could have been in the movies.

  • @Jantv81 Close but It's Liz for me.

  • I think that if they ever do a good remake of 'Bewitched' Faith Hill would make a great Samantha and Tim McGraw would make a good Darrin.

  • my lord!! what photos, what a beauty if there ever was one! i've always loved, loved, loved "bewitched", it was my dream to become a warlock myself one day but...it never happened...sadly. elizabeth you may be gone but you will NEVER be forgotten. thank you for so many wonderful memories of you!

  • I love the big band version of the theme. thanks!

  • The photo at 0:09 lovely

  • Elizabeth Montgomery is one of the only great actresses in history, although I put her as number 6 in my top 10 she is still one of my favorites, and I always loved her as Samantha in Bewitched since I first saw her on that show when I was 10.
