I gotta tell it's a natural talent too. It's like being singer. If you don't have that voice, a good clean voice, then you can't sound good when you're singing. I friend of mine, he's black and I tell you the blacks usually are talented, many of them can sing and make good music, and I gotta tell this friend of mine was practicing for 2 or 3 months and made a couple of beats which are great. As for me, I still make beats and they don't sound really good. A lot of them are kinda stupid.

I actually went to school for audio engineering, they teach you sound theory, mixing & editing, but I didn't learn a damn thing about making beats until I bought an mpc 2000, nothing trumps experience

I ran into your vid on a how to.. music producer website. That was really informative dude. I'm an aspiring artist, and want to pursue a LIFE in beat-making/producing. I've got a few minor obstacles to deal with but hearing your video was really enlightening.
The realest thing u said though: school can't teach you experience (as a music producer).
That was the holy truth right there lol. Anyways, the advice: great. I'mma continue to strive for my dreams.
Thanks for the upload.

@408caliswagg yeah he really breaks it down like foreal.... Cool points

nyu does its called clive davis school of music

don't waste your time (and money) attending any specialized school just for wanting to know "beat making" because the staff will laugh their ass off.
I can't believe so many people actually think that way.
And having a diploma in a 100% street-smart dominated industry won't do much at all.
It's all about your skills/connections, and most of all your personality.

Here's some good advice: Call yourself an "aspiring music producer" for a couple of years before labeling yourself as a producer. People tend to take you more seriously if you have experience, and people that have been doing it for a while will actually be more apt to help you out, rather than just seeing you as someone with an entitlement problem.

id suggest if you want a far more professional perspective of making music, it willl benefit you in quality, mixing, mastering and all that fine jazz. next semester i plan on doing digital sound engineering myself, im having problems properly masteriing :(

Thanks for the great info. I started FL Studio last year and almost immediately realized i needed to quit playing with FL Studio and I've spent the last year learning music theory and learned how to play the keyboard and chord progressions. So i've made my first song on the keyboard and getting ready to put it into FL now. Looking forward to learning from your other videos, THANKS !!!
-
reason 5 flstudio are great rewire clients they work great together
-
Great video!!! I completely agree!!! Hopefully I'll finish my first EP in the next couple months. I have some classroom experience with music theory but when it comes down to it, I've learned most of the technical aspect off the internet (I use FLstudio). The creative aspect of my music I try to emulate my favorite producers. EVERYONE! This guy is right! School may help some but overall, its about how much work you put into your sound and what you want your sound to be like!!!

where do you live?

I wanna become a producer and I'm about to attend a college to learn Music Technology, but beside piano, do I have to take "Digital Sound Engineering" or "Electronic MIDI/Music Production" ??? plz help i'm about to take a huge step of my life
-
@rizzy89 yea thats why i said you might learn it or figure it out, but it would obviously be better if you had a mentor or someone teaching you.
