When you're first learning how to do an effective flip turn, many people try to use the hands to help them get the turn started, then get caught, unable to finish the rotation.

  • This is explained in more detail on the website.

  • Is this a next step to the flip-turn learning sequence which emphasized NOT using the hands?

  • @shuumai Not necessarily the next step as a different approach. We answer this on the site. Best to look there and post the question.

  • Thank you Goswim!

  • i finally did my first flip turn !! thanks !

  • man this girl/lady has an absolutely gorgeous flip turn. Even when she messes up on purpose it still looks a whole lot better than mine. Well time to hit the pool and practice the flipperoni.

  • @goswim098 Thanks, sensei. My flips are weak near the end of the rotation, so I think this will help. Due to circumstances, I will have to wait until summer to try it. Your videos actually make me excited about blazing hot summer weather. hehe

  • Very, very nice!! :)

  • Wow! tried this in the pool the other day and it's great! my only doubt is that if you push your hands to far towards your shoulders you'll affect your streamlining off the wall.....but it certainly gets your legs over really quick!

  • Glenn - great job on this! The slow motion and your explanation on the hands is really helpful for my swimmers. Love it, love it, love it!
