  • Very good soundtrack indeed! Too bad much of it is Tchaikovsky and Gustav Holst and not Bill Conti. Anyways the soundtrack is godlike no matter who made it.

  • @1poiuztrewq2 Indeed, the original soundtrack are fragments of classical music, especially of The Planets by Holst. But it is the case of the two tracks of this video, they are original by Bill Conti.

  • I am sure Tchaikovsky would have given his blessing to Conti if he were still living. Bravo to Bill Conti for writing music we will never forget! It's a magnificent score.

  • This music is amazing. I couldn't believe how they copied the RS in the remake of Oceans 11 at the end.

  • I'm 34 years old. This was the first time I ever saw a movie where I realized the music was something epic.

  • The Greatest Theme and A Movie Masterpiece

  • @1poiuztrewq2 Holst is just part -it is cleverly woven in with Conti's composition. Awesome music!!

  • It's important to remember Mr. Conti was brought in at the last minute after the original score was rejected by the producers. It's also a 3.5 hour movie.

  • The reference to Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto is unmistakable, but if you're going to "borrow," borrow from the best. The Holst references are a bit more literal, but what's important is that the references work and fit the film like a glove. Excellent score, Bill.

Tchaikovsky no way, you don´t know your music man! A touch of Gustav Holst perhaps but there is NOTHING new in music it´s all been done before over and over again. What a composer writes are fragments of many pieces of music he has heard over the years, they all go into his melting pot and come out reformed in his own style so I´m sorry to say I find your comment worthless.

  • This movie made me want to become a pilot. :-)

  • @Etherdave I agree with you 100% (As John Glenn would say). Does it really make a difference to nit pik where music is coming from, so long as it is so enjoyable to listen to?
