It sounds like the worst possible use of the concept of 'compromise'--he's not destroying the working class, as the rest fo the GOP is happy to do...he's merely badly hurting people by cutting job- and social-protection funds. For the sake of appearing (& only appearing) 'fiscally prudent'.

This isn't a moment where splitting the political difference is rational, or gets to a coherent end.
Specter cut the most important parts of the stimulus bill and increased the tax cuts, which have been proven to have far less stimulus effect than large-scale spending.

it would be nice to have the actual office number instead of the main line but this is good. Specter should definately be supporting this bill.
