The Kingdom of the Dinosaurs ride at Knott's Berry Farm, in Buena Park California. Recorded in January 2001. The ride opened in 1987, using the space and track system formerly occupied by Knott's Bear-y Tales. It was a slow-moving trip back in time, first to the Ice Age, then back to various eras in pre-history to visit with saber-tooths, mammoths, and of course dinosaurs.

Low attendance dogged it for most of its life, until it was closed in 2004.

You should see the state of the inside of the attraction now. It's pretty sad. Professor Wells is now nothing but a torso, one arm, and one leg. The dinosaurs are disintegrating down to their machinery, the walls have been stripped, countless places have been tagged by disrespectful employees. It's just tragic.

I was talking to an employee that I knew from Knott's Scary Farm. Apparently the building is one giant hazard. When it rains, the ceiling leaks, and there are puddles of black mold that form all over the place.

Because there are people who want KBT and then there are ones who want KOTD. Though realistically it would be impossible, it has to be one or the other. That or make a dark ride that is actually better than the 2. But we will see what happens soon.

There is a a very likely scenario by Matt who is in charge of Cedar now recently stated that after they finish the log ride refurb (Garner Holt is redoing the scenes and figures but keeping the original theme). They will give the treatment for The mine ride and Then afterwards will be the KBT/KOTD building. It might not be the return of either rides but will be a dark ride. It would be awesome if both were to return elsewhere and both sides win to have them both.

The building sits unused today. They closed it since maintenance was getting costly on it. The ride system, for example, was a leftover from Knotts Bear-y Tales which was built in 1975, this replaced it in 1986. As you can imagine the replacement parts for the vehicles were getting pretty sparse.

Also Cedar Fair doesn't give a shit about dark rides.
