Okay I'm doing a series of visual theories that will be posted also at my sis' and my Twin Peaks fansite. This is the first one. It is what MIKE's ranting during the traffic jam means to us:
"You stole the corn. I had it canned over the store!" The corn is the pain and sorrow that MIKE/MFAP felt for Laura's death. This was stolen when Dale told Laura not to take the ring. Without the ring it would have been possible for BOB to possess her. Laura would not die but would be in constant torment under BOB's control.
"Miss the look on her face when it was opened, there was a stillness like the formica table top." MIKE tries to convey the peace that Laura had in death. "It" refers to the plastic, while the look of stillness is the expression on Laura's corpse.
"The thread will be torn Mr. Palmer! The thread will be torn!" MIKE vows to Leland that the thread of BOB possessing the father to BOB possessing the daughter, Laura, will be torn. The boy represents Leland, who was possessed as a child. The mask represents possession by BOB. The monkey represents Laura in danger of being possessed. This is why the monkey appears at the end of the film, when Laura has died, blue now akin to Laura's corpse.
Three visuals that occur at the film's end have to do with this: The corn having been returned, the monkey now blue and without the mask, and the look of stillness on Laura's corpse.
