You can believe in helping people without god.

I've found Christians attitude on helping is "Well, not to worry, God is in control, He'll take care of everything". It is in the nature of Christians to think this way. It is the nature of Christianity to ignore scientific endeavour because if Jesus is coming, why bother with the planet?

When you realize god doesn't exist, you want to take the responsibility yourself, because if god isn't there, then someone better help those people!

I don't agree with Christians like that either. God said that we are to be caretakers of the planet and so we should be. I believe that God will help with those things we can't control but we are to deal with the things we can according to His Word.

If one really understands what Christ taught, as He speaks it to us even today, then I believe that compassion will urge us to help in love.

Remember, Christians aren't perfect, only God is : )
