Monzennakacho, Tokyoーtemple town in Shitamachi「門前仲町」

There is a big temple and a big shrine in Monzennakacho. This district prospered as a temple town as well as a geisha district in the Edo era. Although there is no sign of showing that this used to be a Geisha district anymore, it is still a very busy town. But once you leave the main street you can feel relaxed since there are rivers and canals nearby, which certainly serve as a kind of oasis.
