It's another day with Rob Johnstone of Woodworker's Journal at the Craftsman Experience located at 233 W. Huron in Chicago. Today Rob teaches us how to turn a wooden bowl.

Z. tries it at 9:15.
At 10:16, Rob explains in detail why a banjo is called a banjo.

  • This guy doesn't have a clue at all what's he's doing! DO NOT follow ANYTHING in this video. NEVER EVER use a roughing gouge on a bowl. It is extremely dangerous how he used it to true it up. As the blank spins and contacts end grain and side grain a roughing gouge can actually break. I didn't even watch the whole video. When he grabbed a scrapper to hog it out I was done. My 7 year old can turn better than this clown.

  • Yet another idiot that is actually demonstrating. If you want to know how to turn wood, DONT WATCH THIS GUY!. Find a real pro turner. Dumb Ass doesnt even know what FSC stand for, what does that tell you?

  • So why are you using a spindle ruffing gouge to turn a bowl?

  • self centering chuck would be nice and quicker

  • The dude, Z, needs to stop asking stupid questions and let the guy turn the damn bowl!
