Honoring Lada Niva

I owned a brand new Lada Niva here in New Zealand in the late 1980's, it would go almost anywhere as long as the motor kept running - never guaranteed! There was also the Cossack version - mag wheels, body trim, still a Niva though, Fiat 124 motor. Then some enterprising engineer converted Nivas into flat deck farm utes by replacing the rear covered passenger section with decking. Still several Nivas around - they (and the little Suzis) will go places the other, bigger 4WDs won't.

A good car! The Niva is a classic and an icon!

@positivismusstreit you won't regret getting one. It does not need a road.. it just goes forward..(that's even Lada Niva's moto) nothing can stop it..

I bought my Niva yesterday - I´m so excited about that little Russian! Wonderful car, full of flaws onroad compared to what I had before - let´s find out what it can do for the purpose it was built for! And I hope it will turn out as a r e l i a b l e little charmer, rumors sometimes have it otherwise...

Thanks! It's not that new actually. It's from 1992, 1.6 engine, but still going strong. I've had to change bits and pieces here and there when they started to rot, fall off or otherwise disintegrate. But I love my Green Olga - she's a real charmer...
