Jesus fulfilled the law by freeing us from its grip. We can't earn our way to heaven. Its only through faith in Him. The Old Testament predicts in numerous places that the messiah would do this. So Jesus is not saying something that contradicts the Old Testament. He is fulfilling it. Thats not hard to understand.
You can read one passage, and at face value, you might get one meaning out of it. But when you read the whole Bible you will realize the deeper meaning behind the passage

@bmart744 Still the Jews disagree, and they wrote the law. You do realize that there are more people in this world then there are Christians? You think most of the human population will go to hell?

Think again.

Nonetheless, I wish you a Merry Xmas. This is a time of celebration, and have been long before the era of Christianity (Paganism).

Romans 3:20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

The law was needed so that we understand right from wrong, but at the same time Jesus made it clear that we can never live up to that. He said that he did not come to judge the world but to save it. The law becomes written on your heart when you have a personal relationship with Jesus. Its no longer about a list of do's and don'ts. Its just about living for Jesus(which is a life of service) Most Christians are ignorant of this because they have probably read less of the Bible than you have

"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence."

I do not spam. I am simply being subjected to the same questions repeatedly over and over and even if I answer to the best of my abilities, it would be very similar to the first time I answered this question in the first place, so I may just as well copy and paste to save time. It is different when debating intellectuals that listen, learn and interact. No historical records nor fact can convince a believer. That is what "blind faith" means.

Have faith, don't listen to reason. It's your call.

@bmart744 Claiming the NT and the Gospels to be accurate or even credible, is like reading back this conversation 60 years from now by memory, and by a third party who was not a witness to the conversation in the first place.

you must not have read my comment on this one already- after spending 3 years with Jesus- the apostles spent the rest of their lives preaching the gospel (good news). If I spent the rest of my life preaching to people about the conversation that we are having, I think I will be able to write about it 30-40 years from now. I dont think that would be too hard. The Bible also says that Paul spent time with some of the apostles.

@bmart744 No, none of the Gospels were written by eyewitnesses, the earliest dating 65 C.E. and most are thought to be significantly later, and the earliest New Testament texts were purportedly authored by early church founder Paul of Tarsus, who was not an eyewitness. It may be a stretch to describe stories of events written 40 years after they supposedly occurred as "eyewitness accounts", when the average lifespan of a human in those times was likely much lower.
