So I was looking out of a port window on a ship on my way to Alaska, and I don't remember if I saw a whale (maybe it was the fact that I didn't see one), but I started thinking about how whalewatching is pretty hit and miss. You might be waiting hours to catch a glimpse of a whale and not even see a fish jump, but when you least expect it an Orca will jump ten feet away.
Whalewatcher
Looking out the window of your two-story apartment
You can see the rainfall patching all the holes
But even if you wanted you couldn't pave the path
That would lead you to his arms once again.
Staring through the foggy glass of the whale-watcher's soul
Waiting for the perfect moment ready to say no
Forever like a memory that wont ever be born
Your patience is a time bomb, about ready to explode
But then you turn around, and you notice all the other prizes
littering the ground
Jokes you used to laugh at, books that made you cry
Though you never knew quite why
If by chance you whale watch when the big event occurs
You may feel lucky, but really, you've been cursed
Because you see that memory was supposed to wait its turn
Or vanish in the night so you wouldn't be disturbed.
It's just imagination running circles around indignation
tiring it out,
making it see things that doesn't exist, like a hidden message behind those lips
or a broken poem that wont make sense no matter how hard you try.

Hey, thanks! Ha, the ocean is just some video I took and edited to make it look like it was playing on the mirror of my bedroom. See you later!
