A video portrayal of the lyrics to this superb Natalie Cole arrangement of this great old standard. I've put together all the images representing the lyrics of the song. The song was written in 1946 by Bobby Troup. It was a hit for a young Nat King Cole and his trio that same year. There's a bit more info in the video. Turn the volume up high, go to "Full Screen" and enjoy.
If you ever plan to motor west,
Travel my way, take the highway that is best.
Get your kicks on route sixty-six.
It winds from chicago to la,
More than two thousand miles all the way.
Get your kicks on route sixty-six.
Now you go through saint looey
Joplin, missouri,
And oklahoma city is mighty pretty.
You see amarillo,
Gallup, new mexico,
Flagstaff, arizona.
Don't forget winona,
Kingman, barstow, san bernandino.
Won't you get hip to this timely tip:
When you make that california trip
Get your kicks on route sixty-six.

Beautiful video! Nice job. I have been hearing this song all my life. I first heard it by the Anderews Sisters back when I was a kid, and later, the Nat King Cole one- the best one, to me. I am a big Nat Cole fan. And Natalie Cole does the song justice!
