I remember watching this on TV, I was exceptionally disapointed when they did not win. As far as I was concerned they were the best. Great moves and style, and not to mention the pick of music.

The answer to your question (anovibg) is werry simple. Its politics. They are the best skate dancers in the world, but they have never won a gold medal. This is really a shame to anyone who was responcible for not appreciating them. Its an honour to know they are the best figure skaters in the world.

You're right as far as the free dance is concerned, but they could not have won this competition since they had already lost points when they fell in the original dance. They could (should?) have won the Europeans though.
