@morriganblane Yes, I agree. Mariah Carey is a vocal genius. She not only has a beautiful voice but she knows how to use it to its full extent. I'm not denying that she doesn't have soul or power etc, of course she does! But her soulful voice ain't near as soulful as Aretha's, and MC admits this. Mariah has a very powerful voice, but watch her live duets with Whitney and you can see that Whitney just naturally has a voice that outpowers anyone she sings with. MC def has the sweetest voice tho.

@patipatou79 and Mariah Carey would not be able to sing "I Will Always Love You" with the same power as Whitney does. Neither Mariah and Whitney can sing "Respect" with the same soul as Aretha does. The most gifted singers in pop music are amazing with their own strengths. You cannot compare them because they're so different!

@eritreangurrl It's not that simple IMO.These singers are great at their own thing but that doesn't mean they're all at the same level. They're not equally talented. Mariah is better on many levels, it's not just about one aspect of the voice. It's her creativity and her absolutely outstanding ear for music what sets her apart any other singer. You can find power, you can find soul, but you won't find a singer as talented as Mariah Carey. She's a musical prodigy, but not enough people know this.
