Experts from the world of motor sport gathered at the University of Huddersfield last night for the unveiling of the Formula Student race car.
Guest of Honour Clive Padgett, of Batley-based champions Padgett's Racing team, joined Steve Caddy, Director of New Product Introduction from Cummins Turbo Technologies and Peter Hewson, Senior Vehicle Dynamisist at Red Bull Racing at the motor show-style launch of the car.
World-class engineers from main sponsors, Cummins Turbo Technologies, have been working with the University's Formula Student Racing Team on the car for the national Formula Student competition, which tests the design and engineering skills of the team as they develop a formula style race car that will lead the field against many other of the automotive industry's future stars.
The Formula Student Racing Team has previously received praise from Formula Student judges for their engine designs, which last year featured a Cummins compressor stage, as well as the driver environment and control system design. With key advancements in this year's design developed in liaison with Cummins' expert technical engineers, the team is confident they will impress the judges again, as well as hitting improved performance targets on the track.
