The College of Forest Resource's Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, in cooperation with the Department of Entomology offers the Basic Insect & Plant Ecology for students ages 10 and older. This years camp emphasizes the connection between insects, plants, soil and climate as these factors influence insect diversity. Many plants provide food and shelter for insects, and some insects are food for some plants, too. Understanding this relationship helps campers learn how ecological systems work.

Led by wildlife and fisheries extension professor John Guyton, the bug camp is sponsored by the Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge, Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, Starkville School District, Young Entomology Society, BioQuip, Friends of Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge, Dan Kennell, Mississippi Entomological Society, and the universitys College of Forest Resources, Extension Service, and 4-H.
