You don't buy a camera just for it's sensor, do you? For a serious sports photographer the 1DIV is well worth the price difference. The focusing system, the superior speed, much larger buffer, the build quality and the high ISO performance makes it worth a lot more than 5 D7000's.
Also, I believe the DXOmark results are accurate indeed. The Sony sensor is great. It's just that they only measure the pure performance of the sensor, not the final image quality, Which for me is far more important.

looks like you are Nikon fan, I have seen many videos of you, I mostly lean toward Nikon cameras

I can have 4 or 5 D7000 instead of one 1D mark IV...but for me one 1D Mark IV is more worthfull than 400 D7000's....

not really a fair comparison. many things make the professional mark 4 superior to the diminutive d7000. it's just just about a bit here or a bit there. i want something that is going to catch the image most of the time and catch it fast and with a good overall image. the canon does that.

@KeijinShiho I totally agree. I shoot with a Canon 1D Mark IV but one of my favorite photographers Laretta Houston shoots with an old Canon 30D. My camera is far superior, but her pictures put mine to shame. Cameras are just tools. It's not about the camera, it's about the photographer.

its still depends on the relation between the camera and the photographer, the bond, which makes, the camera and the photographer in perfect harmony, i only own a 500d, but im using it for my magazine shoots, me and my camera go beyond our limits because of our bond, so, nikon or canon? love your camera, and it will love you back giving you perfect shots... :-)
I wish i could get mine however its a 2 month wait with Adorama!!!
