From the outset, the young grandmaster Tasdemir surprised everyone in this game. He played 14 and out in the second inning, won the second set too, and it seemed that the whole game would be tremendously one sided. But after the third set, Daniel Sánchez finally showed what he is capable of doing. He evened the match 2-2, and the fifth and deciding set was a nail biter. There was a moment when they were 14-14, and it was anybody's game.

A memorable run of 14 consecutive points by 3-cushion grandmaster Tayfun Tasdemir from Turkey. The place was Las Vegas, the year 2001. From the outset it seemed as though Spanish grandmaster Daniel Sanchez would be easily outplayed, but after two sets, Sanchez recovered and the game proved to be a nail biter. The whole game can be purchased from the Accu-Stats video collection. Commentary by Robert Arana and Bob Byrne. A very exciting game!
