  • Jonjamg, can you say me the numbers on the record (Cat no., Ord. no. and mx no.)? And which year no. stands on record after "Mechan Copr." - 1932 or 1933?

  • Grammophon 21952

    1830 BK 3

    Wings - Fliegerlied

    Ben Berlin und sein Orchester

    1928!

  • Sorry this was earlier recording which is wrongly attributed on various CDs -will look again through records, but I think I do not have this any more!

  • Hermann Biek (artist name Ben Berlin) was born in 1896, not in 1900. I recently found the corresponding documents from Estonian National Archives. By the way, you can read his short biography from view_play_list?p=1273674AFD367169 (as fas as it is known for me up to present).

  • @valdo2est

Thank you for that - there is little information on him.

  • This tune gained its huge popularity in 1932-33 when it was used in UFA-film "F.P.1 antwortet nicht" (1932, English and French versions 1933). The tune was composed by Allan Gray (real name Josef Zmigrod) for this film. But Ben Berlin (Hermann Biek) made from it an excellent swing-like arrangement which sounds quite different from the original.

  • Does anyone have the vocal version of the same tune? I certainly know that Ben Berlin has recorded it...

  • I had never heard this one. Great!!

  • Herrlich! Super! Diese Version habe ich auch noch nie gehört!

    Besten Dank!
