Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (born Chris Wayne Jackson on March 9, 1969 in Gulfport, Mississippi) is an American professional basketball player.

Abdul-Rauf changed his name in 1991 upon his conversion to Islam. After a record-setting college career at Louisiana State University, he was selected with the third pick in the 1990 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets. He played with Denver until 1995, and was a key player on that team, winning the Most Improved Player award in 1993. Abdul-Rauf later went on to play for the Sacramento Kings and later the Vancouver Grizzlies. He led the league in free throw percentage in 1994 and 1996, narrowly missing (for one missed free throw) the NBA all-time record for free-throw percentage in a single season in 1993-94 (he went 219-229 from the line for a 95.6 percentage as opposed to Calvin Murphy's 95.8% (206-215) all-time record dating back to 1980-81). Abdul-Rauf overcame the challenge of Tourette syndrome to have an athletic career.

  • Whether or not he is Islamic, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, or anything else, he can play. I might not agree with him on his religion, but the man does stand up for what he believes in. That is something to respect. I have family that has fought ni WWII and Vietnam, so I was never thrilled when he called America all of those things. He has his right too, and while he may not want to say it, I feel like he is happy every single day for what this country has given him.

  • I would pay anything to see Iverson v Abdul-Rauf. And it is true CJ has torched MJ one on one.

  • One of the best pure shooting little men I ever saw. He had some pretty good ball fakes too which would free him up for a shot. He was way too quick and deadly for Stockton to stop in the video; and Stockton is the all-time steals leader. I would love to see Rauf in a 3 point contest with guys like Mark Price, Craig Hodges, and Calvin Murphy; other great pure shooting little men.

  • underrated player

  • if this guy hates america so much then why doesn't he get out?

  • @shall2347 white ape

  • @akrivosdiavolos73 actually my friends met him lately before months ago and he is in the middle east and what happened is that its not about Islam or anything about that he left the NBA, he was denied by the coach at those days cuz he turned to Islam or something like that they kept him in the bench... the true story and he still playing from time time in the middle east and he got a picture with my friends at a street game he came there and watch them....

  • Chris Jackson/Rauf was an AWESOME PLAYER...too bad he let somone get into his head and spread this Islam/Oppression Nonsense....guy was a STAR...all he had to do was "Play the game" on and off the court...like JORDAN did....

  • Nigger

  • @krebsballar3 "Can't stand for the National Anthem but can stand in line to take a paycheck from America."

You mean Mahmoud was paid by the government? Uh-oh. I think you consevrative dolts should get out your guns and start shooting soon before the country REALLY gets ruined by all these non-Americans.

C'mon, bunnies: Start shooting. Like the good little fascists you are.

  • @krebsballar3 screw you he plays his talent and gets payed for it if he doesn't get payed for standing for a shitty fucking anthem he doesn't have to do it
