hey i want to help these two wild alligator lizards that i see often,theyre not hurt but they look extremley super hungry because they r skinny.theyre always hiding under a trash can and in my case r very easy to catch.so my question is what can i keep one in and its basic care needs?like dies it need uvb,tank size etc.oh theyre about 8 inches long.

@FutbolGecko Can keep it in a standard tank, but the bigger the better. They do need uvb so would require pretty much the standard lighting most lizards need. I found that actual dirt or organic potting soil had mine the most active.
I fed it crickets, silkworms, and meal worms. Dusted the crickets with powder.
Pretty standard care, nothing exotic or special really needed. They like to hide in plants and have stuff to go into also.

@LILTBALLEN
Just was. When I first got her she was a bit wild. But after a few days she calmed down and was very friendly and curious.

My friend and I just got one about three days ago and have kept him in a pretty big tub with soil, leaves and rocks at the bottom.. where do you get the food you feed him? do you catch crickets in the wild or just by crickets and mealworms from the store? We are trying to keep him as a pet and keep him alive as long as possible so any helpful advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

@bballallstarr Just pick up food from the local pet store.
I would order silk worm eggs online from mulberry farms and raise the silkworms and feed them those when the weather allowed, but otherwise would just use crickets and meal worms from local pet store. Protein dusted.
