sadly, this series have seen discontinued. The pickups have been swapped with a pair of FLC custom pickups, also made in Taiwan.

  • well i have pickups that are very low output as well, the sound ok its just that the output is really soft. What i am interested in though is the preamp your friend made for you. If i could get an idea of the design or a schematic i would be able to build one. Also i am just starting out on bass, and really admire your playing. Do you have any tips or resource that you can recommend. I am into the style of music you play, jazz funk that kinda thing.

    Appreciate it thanks.

  • low output can be a problem... if you live in the US you might as well get a brand name preamp there, such as Bartolini, Aguliar..., which saves you time and the quality if ensured ;) Replacing a preamp here in Taiwan can be very expensive cause they are all imports from overseas... that's why my friend made this for me, which only amplifies the signal but does nothing else. So I think you might get a pair of really decent pickups and see if a preamp is necessary. :))

  • In terms of playing thank you for your comments. For the past 4 years I did nothing but play by ear... I don't even transcribe now (no writing down)... I just reply on my ears. I used to reply on books and scores heavily but I changed the way I learn now... developing the ears is top priority I suppose.

  • Hey man smooth sound. Great playing too!!!. Do you have a preamp in that bass or is it just the pups? Is there anywhere online i can get some of those?

    Again great playing. Huge fan.

  • my friend custom-made an amplifying little preamp for me because the output from these pickups are too low. :)) I am not sure if they ship the pickups overseas... If you like i can show you their e-mail ;)

  • I like it =) You're very good musician, my dear friend =)

  • thanks, Olga! I hope we have a chance to reunite next time you come back to Taiwan!

  • very nice,bravo!

  • Beautiful.

  • This is amazing! So are your other vids

  • hey thanks man............i live outside the us as well. its a little expensive for me to buy these brand name pres and pups. by the time they get to me they cost as much as 5 times what they cost there and then we have the currency conversion to deal with. thats why i've been researching preamp schematics. But thanks man.

    Keep on grooving!!!
