Yes, I did it. I took off with my FunCub, equipped with a UavDevBoard autopilot, I put it in autonomous mode, I took then off with an EasyStar (having two RC tx in my hands, my son kindly launched it for me).
I flew the EasyStar around the FunCub and then my son asked to land his plane.

  • @TheGrabist Exactly :)

  • So the target plane transmit (over xbee ?) his GPS position to the autonomous plane for the camera tracking coordination ?

Thanks again, your patient answers are much appreciated :)

  • @TheGrabist The target plane has another autopilot on board. This device only send plane position, it is not connected to anything. The target plane is piloted manually, while the main plane flies autonomously (manual takeoff and landing).

  • @chiloschista Thank a lot of the info,

How do you set a target plane ?

Does it need to have some kind of a transmitter on the other side as reference ?

    Thanks again for sharing :)

  • @TheGrabist

The camera mount is a DIY pan / tilt turret with two servos, which are connected to the autopilot.

The autopilot controls the camera, pointing it at the target plane.

  • Can you further detail about the camera mount and the UAV Board connections ?

    Thanks !
