The Katadyn Pocket water filter technology uses a 0.2 micron ceramic element impregnated with silver. The capacity of the Pocket micro filter is rated at 13,000 gallons (50,000 liters). The unit meets EPA purification standards for bacteria and protozoa including cysts, Giardia, Cyrptosporidia, Amoebae, Lamblia, E-coli, Salmonella, and Cholera.

The Katadyn Pocket filter could be used for expeditions, scouting troops, camping, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, or outdoor adventures including hunting and fishing. The filter could also be used in a disaster situation or emergency event. The Pocket filter is a simple design that can easily be cleaned in the field.

  • CLEANING TIP i have read katadyn used to give you a brush, well when you clean your filter cartridge take an old tooth brush before using scouring pad, less cleaning needed with the scouring pad then.

i have an old tooth brush in the storage bag just fro that reason

  • @blackbat1339 Thanks for the tip!

  • Do those filters get any mold or mildew once they are used? It seems like a charcoal filter would take forever to dry.

  • @MrB0TT After use and before storing you want to clean the filter and all components with a bleach-water sanitizing solution and lay out unassembled to dry. I just rinse the carbon filter accessory and store as is…I don’t take that component apart to dry and it’s never been a problem. I suppose you could, but as you mentioned, it would take a long time to dry.

  • Yup great filter great video thought it was pricey at first now worth every penny I rate 5 star out of 5 star great peace of mind

  • @blkwulff I agree...it is a very good filter. Thanks for the comment.

  • Good video....

But I have some good news and some bad news for you. You mentioned in the video that it filters viruses...

    Bad News:

    It doesn't

    Good News:

We don't really have virus concerns in the USA (some exceptions exist)

    Really Good News:

    You're still alive!!
