"Stream of Conscience" is a song 2/3 Goat wrote about their cause as a band, which is fighting mountaintop removal coal mining. This music video, their first, tells the story of a young girl living amid the destruction.

Protest footage (courtesy of Jordan Freeman) is from the March on Blair Mountain, a march to save historic Blair Mtn from being demolished by mountaintop removal. The 2 men on the sign: Sid Hatfield, sheriff of Matewan, WV, and his deputy Ed Chambers. The pro-unioners were shot and killed on the steps of the courthouse while awaiting trial. This led to the Battle of Blair Mtn (1921). 2/3 Goat is against the destruction of any Mountains. They are all part of our rich history and our livelihood!!

Thanks for all the comments. We support the fight to STOP fracking as well! And Dave, that is a coal power plant in the video. Both nuclear and coal use the big cooling tanks and produce steam. And sadly, though some may make an argument that nuclear is greener, check out what just came out about Fukushima in Japan. Just happened upon your Stream of Conscience video. Thanks for what y'all are doing. I was googling 'stream of conscience' as a result of a comment by an editor about my novel/manuscript: "this is mostly a stream of conscience work". Discovered that your song, Virginia Woolf, and William Faulkner are 'faulted' with this label. Maybe 'stream of conscience' is not such a bad thing. Gary

People need to understand that Mountaintop Removal is not the end of mountains. It's a productive way to remove the coal and bring developable land to the state of Kentucky. It's rediculous to take such stern positions against coal and mountaintop removal.
