Here's just really a shout out for some help, Does anyone know how to set up three monitors with only software? I can't really install another video card into my laptop =\. But my laptop does have two video outputs, and a monitor it self, so it has the hardware to support three monitors, but on windows 7 I can't activate the third monitor!!! It won't let me. Please help me if you can =)

Here is another set up I like to use. Some advantages of a dual monitor set-up. Hope it gives you guys some inspiration on how to make your computer set up.

  • it is just enough to read the manual - it will make it clear tha supplying 3rd monitor is beyond graphic card ability... knowledge makes a difference, and especially being not too lazy to read manuals : (

  • @tdegler Funny i was asking for solutions around that problem of not being able to support three monitors, thanks for restating my problem. But in case you run into anyone else who has a similar issue, maybe you can suggest synergy or maxivista as a good solution instead of restating their problem.

  • Hey figured it out I have Three different ways to connect 3 moniters!

    1) MaxiVista cam turn you spare laptop in a third monitor via wi-fi so it's like a wireless monitor

    2) Synergy allows you to control two computer with one mouse with is something i like because now you have the processing power of two computers. Only thing is you can drag programs across computers (only copy/paste?

    3) AirDisplay lets me connect my iPad to my computer as a Third monitor also via wifi

    I will post videos!

  • Did you try pressing Fn+F10 several times to cycle through the different multi-monitor modes? In my old Fujitsu Lifebook S6210, pressing Fn+F10 will turn off and on the notebook monitor when an external monitor is plugged in. I think it's a feature to save battery life.

  • Yeah i tried that, My computer recognizes all three monitors plugged in, but i can't only use 2 monitors the most at one time.

It's terrible annoying, must be a drivers or a software problem that the laptop is lacking. The hardware is all there, but the software won't support three monitors!!!

I wish i could have all three monitors Someone help! haha thanks for replying thought.

  • look up surround gaming. need a radeon for it to work with one card. to nvidia cards in sli work as well.

  • if you have a new version of a ati you can setup 3 monitors

  • Here seems the only solution I can think of. There is just not enough power in the GPU to do this (are you running this on a laptop with integrated graphics?) and I experienced the same problem with mine. My desktop GPU can support 3 monitors which I intend to do one day (I have two as it is). Sadly, most laptops can't do it though. Try an active VGA splitter or the like and try it then, although you may only get a duplicate as opposed to three individual displays. Hope this helps.

    Balf.

  • sorry i dunno, but maybe maxishine would know something. he has a few triple monitor and other crazy setups.
