  • I'm only eight minutes in, so maybe he says something awful after this, but I think a lot of the people saying how stupid paxman is should realise that he always plays the devil's advocate in his discussions, he doesn't (I'm assuming) hold the beliefs he appears to, he just challenges the person he's interviewing with whatever arguments *may* be against them, no matter how brittle they are.

  • @philippejacob Paxman is a fantastic journalist and somewhat of a national treasure here in the UK. Much respect to those that withstand his caustic line of qustioning. You should see his interview with Right-wing nutter Ann Coulter, made her look like the freak she is.

The point i'm making is that Paxman makes it his job to pressure people in a way that a lot of other interviewers would be afraid to do. Chomsky was his usual lucid and extremly well-informed self.

  • @OldManMahoney "Paxman is a fantastic journalist"

really, the same Paxman that has just published a book talking about British imperialism as though it is a practice of yesteryear in the midst of us amongst others bombing the shit out of Libyans then running in with our big oil corporations for the oil spoils?

Paxman is propagandist for British imperialism.

  • @philippejacob perhaps the questions, had been constructed to encourage or enable Chomsky to respond as he had done so, which was in fact not particularly antagonized. Rather further allowed Chomsky to elaborate his notions, which were granted autonomy during the interview.

  • @StraussBR is that the bit where chomsky had a go at him saying you dont joke about chomsky. Yeah there is an art to lying by ommission.

  • @Doversreturn funny how they cut what chomsky said when paxman made a joke about aljazeera

  • The battle for the mind of North America will be fought in the video arena: the Videodrome. The television screen is the retina of the mind's eye. Therefore, the television screen is part of the physical structure of the brain. Therefore, whatever appears on the television screen emerges as raw experience for those who watch it. Therefore, television is reality, and reality is less than television.

  • Death to Videodrome! Long live The New flesh!

  • paxman is an establishment man for godsake, you can tell by his tone that he is biased.

  • Get this man on Sky News!!

  • The full video is here: news DOT bbc DOT co DOT uk / 1 / hi / programmes / newsnight / 9418922 DOT stm <---- Which you will need to use your brain to reconstruct. I will try to rip it off from the bbc (which I am part owner of, being a license fee payer) and make my first youtube upload.. because what is missing here is important

  • @extremepietbh I'm afraid the majority of Americans have no capacity to understand socratic dialogue. They are taught that anybody who says anything which does not agree with their opinion 100% is an offensive attack on their way of life. Brainwashed. Sad but true.
