Never see his like again, and its a shame the standards Fred lived by will never be reached again by our society because too many people have taken the easy way out and choose to live off the welfare state whilst providing NOTHING of their own labours.
It is a disgrace, and a very poor reflection of ourselves that we have allowed this to happen in such a short space of time.
RIP Fred.

Fred was a brilliant person, a real icon of the past. I'm from Ireland and I remember these programs about Fred. He had a fascinating Northern English accent and knowledge that knew no bounds. He is a real symbol of what is great about the north of England. A peoples man.

I just watched this on TV. I beleive it was 1979 or 80? I'm from Bolton, it was fascinating seeing bolton town centre 30 years ago! The church at 1:20 is now a wreck which is sad.

Thanks for sharing, what a great guy, hard working, a wealth of knowledge,such a shame he was part of a dying breed, we could do with more of his kind to make britain great again. RIP Fred
