It's Going To Be Okay - Episode 5

*Its now been three weeks since Demi has been to school. Shes ignored all of Joes calls, and didnt answer the door whenever he came over. Of course he knows shes still alive because of Selena. But she still hasnt told him the truth about what was going on. No one knew besides Selena, Demi, and of course, Cody. But he would never tell anyone. Neither would Selena because of the promise she made to Demi. The most confusing part was how Demi could get the flu, when she wasnt anywheres but her house for three weeks straight. For the past few days she had been throwing up, even though she hadnt been eating much. She finally decides to call Selena to ask her if there was a virus going around recently. She said no, which made Demi even more confused. Then she clued in to what was actually going on. She had already been a week late on her period. She was pregnant. With Codys baby. What did he do to her? First he raped her, and now shes pregnant with his child. Whats wrong with her? What will Joe think of her? She finally decided to go see a doctor. This only confirming it of course. She was 16, and pregnant. What was she supposed to do? People were going to find out eventually. Its not like she could never go to school again. She knew she had to end it with Joe once and for all. After telling Selena what was going on, they decided the best thing was to go back to school, and tell Joe she was pregnant. The worst part of it all was trying to accept the fact that Cody was the father of her first child. She couldnt get the thought of him raping her out of her mind. It had been almost a month and it was still all she thought about. How much of a slut everyone would know her to be. But she had to get it over with. She had to go back to school. So she did. Exactly one month later*
Demi: (Putting her books into her locker) This is it.
Selena: Hes coming Dem, are you sure you want to do this alone?
Demi: (Looks down) I have to. I dont have any other choice. I need to tell him we cant ever be together and that Im pregnant.
Selena: Ill just be down the hall, okay?
Joe: (Walks over to him, scratching the back of his neck) Hi
Selena: (Flashes him a comforting smile, she looks back at Demi) Right down the hall.
Demi: Thanks Sel.
Selena: (Hugs her, then walks down the hall).
Joe: Ive missed you, Demi. Where have you been?
Demi: Ive been home. Joe, we need to talk.
Joe: Yeah, we do. Ive been worried sick about you. You didnt answer my calls, you never answered the door, the only reason I knew you were even still alive was because of Selena.
Demi: What did she tell you?!
Joe: Nothing. Thats just it. She wouldnt tell us anything.
Demi: Its because I asked her not to.
Joe: (Confused) Why would you do that? Did I do something wrong?
Demi: (Looks at him in the eyes) Joe, I need to tell you something.
Joe: (Smiles at her) Of course, anything.
Demi: (Her eyes start to fill with tears) Joe, Im pregnant.
Joe: (Utterly shocked) Youre what?
Demi: I can explain, Joe. Cody--
Joe: (Upset) You had sex with Cody?! YOURE PREGNANT WITH CODYS BABY?!

*By now the whole hall had heard what Joe said and was staring at her*
Joe: (With his eyes full of tears) I cant believe this. Thats why youve been avoiding me?! You werent ready to be with me, but you were to be with him? I dont understand.
Demi: (Starts crying) Joe, listen, I--
Joe: (Infuriated) No, YOU listen. I cant believe you. Were over. Dont talk to me ever again. I hope that bastard makes you happy, Dem, I really do. Have a great life, sweetie.
Demi: (As soon as Joe said that, she remembered back to when Cody said the exact same thing to her, after raping her. She continued crying while looking at Joe. She then ran down the hall and into an empty classroom. She closed the door, and pressed her back against it and slid down to the floor. She sat there with her knees pulled to her chest and her head lying on her knees. To herself-) I knew he would never forgive me. I am such a horrible person. There is no going back now.
Taylor: (Walks into the room through the door on the other side) Demi
Demi: What do you want, Taylor?
Taylor: (Curious) So howd you pull it off?
Demi: (Wiping her tears, confused) What?
Taylor: (Laughs) Youre so pathetic. You probably got pregnant on purpose so you could stay attached to someone, because we both know, no ones really ever wanted you.
Demi: (Frustrated) You have no idea what youre talking about Taylor. Just leave me alone (Gets up and walks out of the room)
