My fort with cactus protection

I decided to try to defend my walls with cactus. In the video I couldn't manage to get a baddy to attack me, but normally if I withdraw, they follow and walk into the cactus wall and die.
It's only my second day of playing Minecraft, so the fort isn't too pretty yet.
Creepers also die by cactus without exploding, so there's no risk the wall will be bombed.

*For some season the video is darker than it was when I played it.
