@freekicking85; Surely a man stands for his beliefs is a better man than he who is controlled by a political party? I remember in the 60's a politician who said what he thought and didn't follow the 'party' line.... was he ever correct!

As for knowing nothing nothing about you....I challenge you to prove you know anything about Daniel Hannan apart from his political views and despite New Labours attempts to abolish democracy in the UK we still have a freedom of opinion.

@shgp1956 also to answer your question regarding your hatred of people you deem "socialist". I think Noam Chomsky is probably a good example of an "intelligent and aware" person with socialist values. Although because probably you don't agree with what he has to say I'm interested to see whether you deem him "intelligent" or "aware" which he definitely is.

@shgp1956 the grounds I have are his own party disagree with him and he is a maverick who can say what he likes. Personally I don't consider myself a socialist, though i definitely wouldn't consider myself right wing. I try to read as many newspapers as I can and definitely don't agree with the mirror or most tabloids. Certainly wouldn't call myself a "brain dead socialist" but then you don't know anything about me.
