Floydfest 2011 - Del McCoury - Peter Rowan - David Grisman - Little Girl & The Dreadful Snake

Del recalls playing this song almost every performance when he was the guitarist and lead singer with Bill Monroe's Band in 1963. Del was originally hired by Monroe as a banjo player. In the spring of "64 Grisman met Jerry Garcia at a Bill Monroe show at Sunset Park in West Grove, PA. Later in '64 Del left Monroe and Peter Rowan was Del's replacement as a Bluegrass Boy. By 1966 Grisman had befriended Rowan & McCoury and began picking together. Grisman & McCoury recorded "Early Dawg" in 1966. By '67 McCoury formed his own band, the Dixie Pals and Rowan & Grisman went on to form Earth Opera.
