Thank you for this wonderful instructional video. I recently fixed the loose steering column on my 1989 Silverado thanks to your video. I don't think I could have done it without your help. It took me about 10 hours over 2 days but I was going very slow and methodical and I took a lot of pictures.

Did you make that pin tool yourself?

When these get looser, you lose your ability to do the high beams, and if the center piece becomes loose (between the wheel and the shift collar) then you can shift out of gear (or into reverse or park) when you try to use the turn signals. That's where my car is right now and I thank you for putting this how-to up so I can get a $20 wheel removal/lock plate kit and get it done and not have to just buy a $55 steering column from the yard (and then have a different ignition key - argh!)

hey whats the name of that little tool you use to pull the tilt pins out you showed in the beginning is it home made or did you buy it?

@stevewittbrodt I bought it from a local auto parts store. I searched them on ebay and found them easily. I searched for "tild steering tool" or 'tilt pin removal tool" you shouldn't have any problem finding it on ebay. Not sure of the name of the thing. Great little tool.
