I think the lack of save slots was only a problem in the scenes where a certain dialogue tree appears once. Like the one in this video, where Petra decides how much money to charge Trot. I actually reloaded the game at this scene, using autosave feature, just to see what Petra would say if I chose the "do it for free" option.
