Tea And Symphony - Terror In My Soul

1969

UK (Birmingham) Acid Folk band that started as a trio in 1968 and recorded this their first album in 1969 "An Asylum For The Musically Insane" which was on the EMI imprint Harvest Records. During the same period they toured with Bakerloo.

Given high kudos by the sixties UK music press who called it Science Fiction Acid-Folk or a mix of Tyrannosaurus Rex, Third Ear Band and Scaffold gone mad (I kid you not)

The band folded in 1972 but for those there at the time (legendary Mothers venue, August 1968) combining classical, blues and folk influences with surreal humour and with theatre in the mix, they are fondly remembered.

Personnel
Dave Clempson ('Clem') - guitar
Jeff Daw - flute, guitar, vocals
Gus Dudgeon - drums
James Langston - guitar, vocals, woodwinds
Nigel Phillips - keyboards, vocals, percussion
Bob Lamb - drums

  • The first Comus album was somewhat similar sounding.

  • james is still giging with the atlantic blues band, he,s still a fantastic guitarist, this album has been released on cd, german lable i think?

  • Truly an unusual band, even for that time.

  • Ah, this hasn't lost any of its magic over the years! Saw T & S in North London in 1970-71 and purchased of this album soon after. The driving acoustic guitar that comes in after the piano intro is just fantastic. Still have my copy of this gem and it ain't for sale!

  • ahhh... very nice , thank you.

  • Does anyone selling this LP, and if how much it cost?
