Hole 11, par 3, Hilarious! And there's a story behind that too! As others mentioned, this structure was probably build by CCC during the depression. There are two similar structures with the same type of construction at Jefferson State Lake Park in Richmond, OH, about 18 miles north that I can confirm were built by CCC.

@StealthGoblin1 Thanks for the update. Was not aware they were doing anything at the park. Everything looked pretty run down my last couple visits.
Re pool ruins. I swam there many many times as young teenager in the 60's. I don't know the original construction date, but all the stone structures we either built or rehabbed during t govt jobs program of the 1930s by CCC, according to local lore.
Major Erkuries Beatty was Paymaster of the Western Army during the construction of Ft Steuben.

@mll2533 I left Steubenville in 2007. Since then, a frisbee golf course has been installed in the park. There are several other tee signs and "holes" set up along the path. I was quite surprised when I saw them on a return visit.

Would make a great watercolor!
The old stone structure I think was the remnants of an old shelter house in the park. I have been there. Most of the park structures were originally built during the 1930s depression by the Civil Conservation Corps? (CCC) noted by the signature stone construction. Other similar structures exist in the park. We spent many days as youngsters roaming the park in the 1960's.

@mll2533 Thank you for the background information. I noticed a stone bridge in the park that bears a date of 1880's or 1890's, so I had thought the structure may have gone back that far. If built in the 30's, it's much younger than I thought. There also are the old pool ruins, closer to the entrance. Do you know if the old pool was built in the 1930's as well? It's all overgrown and dilapidated now, but I tried to imagine what it once looked like.
