An Old School 1950 Chopper re-born after being covered and stored for 30 years. This bike sat in garage for over 30 years, the original builder used to be in a motorcycle club (hint hint) back in the day. He welded the tank on, fully molded the frame and the tank. Unfortunately the tank developed a leak and would drip gas on the heads so he parked it. When I got it I hated to tear it apart as it was fully molded, but had to be done. Had the frame sandblasted, but molded everything on frame as he did. This is the original 1950 engine and case, original transmission, original king and queen, seat, sissy bar. When he parked it he sprayed the bike down with a wax or grease. The first pictures show the original condition where it looks like everything is rust, but really just dirt in the wax. Once all cleaned off the chrome was in excellent shape. Even the engine cases were still a high luster polish. Those are original 1960's old school front forks as well. Had the cylinder heads re worked by Head Hog out of northern Ohio, he did an excellent job repairing them. After installing the Mallory Electronic ignition it was 1-3 kick bike hot or cold. Also installed an S&S shorty carb and re jetted, ran great.

  • Hats off to you brother. Masterful job on the rebirth of a legend like that. Was most of the work done in your garage? How long did this project take you? Hard to imagine you actually let it go after all that work. Would've kept that one as a family heirloom.

Great job regardless, can't wait to see your next build. Mad Respect.... E......SoCal.

  • Believe it or not I built it in a 6' x 16' enclosed trailer while my garage was being built. Outside in Ohio during the winter with an electric heater. I did all of the work except for the heads, and shooting the paint on the tank and frame. It was the first time for all, the biggest pain was relacing the back wheel, that took me hours, but well worth it. It was tough to part with, and regret it each day that passes.

  • Damn thats a nice ride. Good job man.

  • @roadhazzard666

    Thanks

  • Let me know if you need help putting it together. I had a '63 Panhead.

  • DWG2001Harley,

Thanks for the offer, its all together as shown here. In fact all together many tanks of gas and sold to a guy in MA for $14,500. Needless to say he was a very happy guy when he seen it in person. I do miss it now, cant find another one like it anywhere.

  • amazing job on the rebuild, that panhead is immaculate. They don't build engines like that anymore

  • ***excellent***

  • @etcommunications You surely will never brother. Most now are either in old mechanic / bikers heated garages or in museums for Harley Davidson. Its a shame, really that the world turned to a fast, cheap, buy, break, throw away world. These old bikes are truly real works of arts. congrats on the sick Panhead you restored.

  • nice work time bro!
