I know what you mean, they're not cheap. But if you're one of the best animators in the world, like Eric, and you animate for a living, it's easy to afford and justify.
But that's not the only way to use FlipBook. You can use paper and pencil, tablet PC's or regular graphic tablets as well. Some people even draw with a mouse, but I wouldn't recommend it.
