Old Victorian buildings were being demolished and changed the face of old Hong Kong. Kowloon had many jewelry shops and money could even be sent to heaven or hell, as the case might be. Governor Sir Rober Black and his body guard Paul Lee are seen getting into his Rolls Royce.

  • Wow the old Hong Kong cricket ground! I can remember that on Saturday mornings when I was a kid myself and a few other unfortunates had to gather there and go over some sort of blasted assault course! I've just discovered these vids and they bring back suck wonderful memories of my childhood.

  • @zimondye Thanks. I have many more on YouTube!

  • Governor's Rolls Royce looks more like an Austin Princess to me!

  • @Yourewastingyourtime Somebody else identified it as a Vanden Plas Princess!

  • Where's the ziplines?

  • @MarioManiac08 . Can't remember there were any.

  • My father found himself on this clips , both of us laugh with tears, thank of you Michael

  • HK was breathtakingly beautiful in the past. But its unique glamour in cityscape and architecture has been fading rapidly since late 1970's. Few locals could afford a video camera in the old days. The "documenting" job therefore relied much on tourists and filmmakers. Thanks so much for your invaluable contribution to HK's history. Your series of video clips captured some of the vanished beauty of Hong Kong - the beauty that has been ravaged by people's myopia, greed, cupidity and materialism.

  • Super Duper love it.

  • @MarioManiac08

Fell apart due to overuse by the Spetsnaz.

  • Thank you Michael. The video reminds me HK in my childhood years. It keeps the history and culture at that time. It was so peaceful and not so busy in HK. We enjoyed walking leisurely in the Central. Not so hot and not so crowded.

  • @ghostalin none that anyone else who grew up in HK would not have

  • @zimondye Seriously, thats incredible, growing up in old British Hong Kong. Do you have any other stories?

  • @MichaelRogge And I'm trying to watch them all! I love the one of Aberdeen - in the 60's you could smell that place long before actually being able to see it. My Dad took me there often and I always wanted to dive in and play with the local kids. not one of my better ideas!

  • D'oh that should be "such"
