Baby Ray is a 4 month old baby colt that was taken from his mom at only 4 weeks old - he was going to be shot because he was blind. A couple of months later, after living in a couple of different places, we got a call to see if we could help him. We went to meet him and brought him home in our mini-van! He was very weak from malnutrition and stress. I tracked down his mom found her! We raised funds and bought her! Reuniting him with his mom, Sunshine, has helped him (mentally) a lot. He needs to get healthy in order to have surgery to remove a cataract from each eye. Today he was visited by Dr. Porter from UF and an ultrasound showed his retina's are not detached which is great news! He was then visited by Dr. Ryan Meeks and got some plasma. He has malabsorbtion syndrome and other issues he is trying to overcome. He was born a premie but he's a fighter! Today we were able to catch him "speaking" on video. His first words caught on video: "Are you done yet?" He's a doll - enjoy!

  • What a tremendous story of compassion and love for one little colt who through a miracle wasn't killed because he was blind, but now has a chance to live and grow and yes, be able to see. God bless you BHFER for caring for this little one.
