Chapter 5 Part 1

Location and Time: Near the Entrance to the Rockefeller Center Ice Rink; 1:02 P.M.

♥Demi's Point of View♥

Tears are overflowing my eyes because this is where Joe asked me the question that changed my life. I remember that day crystal clear. Like it happened only yesterday...

"I don't think we're allowed to go this way, Joe. Aren't we suppose to wait in line?" I asked him as we were walking up the exit staircase to the rink.

"Nope. We don't have to. I got us passes to bypass the line." He smiled at me.

"We could've just waited, ya know?"

"Come on, Dems. You got admit that line is killer."

I turned my head around to see a long line of people waiting for tickets to ice skate.

"Yeah." I agreed.

After we got our skates on and whatnot, we stopped to look at the Rockefeller Christmas tree. It was gorgeous. The lights sparkled as bright as the stars in the sky that night. Joe grabbed my hand and kissed it.

"May I say, you look quite lovely, my lady?" He flashed his handsome smile that gave me butterflies.

"Why, thank you, kind sir." I said playing along and stepped onto the ice. He reluctantly followed me. "Are you scared?" I laughed.

"What? No." He said grabbing onto the edge of the rink.

I raised an eyebrow. "You sure?" I said skating in circles.

"Showoff." He teased.

"What? Am not. Anyone can do it." I pointed at a little girl who spun in circles with a group of her friends. "See? They can do it. Let's see you do it." I challenged.

"I'd rather not." He said and tried moving away by gripping onto the side and pulling himself by a few inches.

I laughed at him. "Why not? Can't you skate?" I said skating beside him.

"What does it look like I'm doing?" He said.

"It looks like you can't skate." I remarked.

"Fine." He sighed defeated. "I can't skate. There I said it. Teach me?" He looked at me.

"You have to let go of the wall first."

He let go and started wobbling all over the place so he gripped the wall again. "Only if you hold my hand."

I smiled. "Gladly." I took his outreached hand into mine and intertwined our fingers. "Better?"

"Much better." He gave my hand a squeeze.

We moved slowly but after awhile I think he got the hang of it. Then the music that was playing stopped. One of the workers said for everyone to please exit because the session was over-- except for us. I was surprised when he said our names and I turned to Joe.
