The machine is a Buffalo Therma-Knife. I think it is easier to use than a scalpel, and acrylic burs don't work because the material is too soft. Vaseline helps keep the soft reline from sticking to the teeth, but you still have to shape and blend the soft reline into the contours of the denture and cut off the excess. The knife also makes it easy to get off the extensions which go into the extraction sockets.
