Gotta take into account the fact that they're getting older...also sometimes it's harder to keep your voice in tune when you're not playing an instrument at the same time, like guitar or piano. Another thing is that they have to change the key of the song or drop the notes an octave to accommodate to Dave- he can sing anything in studio, but when you're touring, you gotta try to keep the singer healthy; singing the studio key would mess his voice up, although he still DID get laryngitis =P
