The Musician's Cooperative of Michiana announces the premiere of South Bend's first locally produced reality series, "The Coop". The cooperative opened its doors in September to 14 local musicians and artists all dreaming of fame. The reality series, released as bi-weekly webisodes on YouTube and Facebook, documents the lives of the 14 roommates as they live, work, and grow with one another.

Tyler Trierweiler, recent Western Michigan University graduate and co-founder of the cooperative, oversees the production of the show. "I received a grant from WMU to produce my first documentary during my senior year. Once I graduated, I knew I wanted to take everything a step further with a whole reality series," Trierweiler said.

The cast of "The Coop" is diverse to say the least. Among the roommates are an ex-soldier, a married couple, a gay rapper, and a tennis pro. Despite their differences, the members of the cooperative have one thing in common, talent. The show features music created exclusively by members of the cooperative. The group is also working on a compilation album to be released at the end of the month featuring songs from the show and other house collaborations.

"It's really exciting being filmed all the time," said Gary Conley, former marine and central character in the show. "It makes me feel like I'm already famous." Despite a focus on music, producers of the show do not shy away from showing every side of the musician's personalities, including the not so glamorous ones. Viewer discretion is advised.

  • 2. Hmm, on second thought, "like" is too weak of a word. The real word I'm looking for is Determined, focused, and following a plan to get there (a plan that's about 3 years old and progressing well). I'll probably reach my goal in about 2 more years.

  • That's pretty cool, a theme based home.

I'd like to create a situation somewhat like that, except the theme would be Permaculture and organic gardening.
