@blameist Well...
You could download the apprentice version...
There is a version for 100 dollars which lets you save animations in HD...
Also it takes a lot of time to do something in Houdini and you need to learn something new in almost every project...

@blameist um no you can get a beginner version for free and its just like the pro version but it can only make 30 sec animations

this is from 2009?? i couldnt do this in 2025....

Blender may be free but it's a pain in the butt to get useful info on how to use it and it comes with no manual not to mention it's always obsolete when the newest version comes out which means all that time you spent to learn it becomes a useless chore! As for Houdini it's probably expensive as hell and which means it's also out of my financial reach! Sigh Houdini looks so awesome!

I thought this was Houdini 9?

@TheSnIpA66 Lol no you can't. Not at all. You can get sort of close if you have a ton of experience and a very good programming background. I've used Houdini and Blender and I much prefer blender, but it isn't powerful enough for the films I do so my company has had to rewrite large portions of it to render and simulate faster and more accurately, but our best Blender work can't come close to our top Houdini or Maya artists.

you are a noob because you dont know that you can do the same things with blender for free -.-
